To tell you the truth, I wasn’t all that excited about writing this book.  Yet I felt compelled to do so because I’ve been told it will make a difference.  Unfortunately, I’ve lived most of my life thinking about myself and what I want and very little about what might be good for others.  So, in reality, I wrote this out of a desire to help others… and in particular, to help you.  I realize that last statement is more than a little presumptuous in that I probably don’t know you… so why would I think I could help you?  Let me say this:  Somehow, some way, this story is going to impact you.  It is about you, even though it’s my story.  Somewhere in here, something is going to grab your attention, and all of a sudden you are going to find yourself thinking in ways you hadn’t thought before.  Your heart is going to be stirred about some of your most inner, private and sacred thoughts.  In fact, there will be times when it will seem like my story is more about you than it is about me.

This is about a journey… a journey with God.  You may or may not even believe in God.  What you believe does not affect the story.  My role is to write down what happened and let you figure out whatever you need, for yourself.

I will say this:  God is pursuing you.  Regardless of how old you are, what you’ve done in the past, or even what you think about God, does not change the reality of this truth. Ultimately, this is a matter between you and God, so I’ll do my best to tell the story, and leave the details between the two of you.
